Daan Bossuyt is Assistant Professor Spatial Planning in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning, Utrecht University. His research and teaching focuses on the political dynamics of urban change. He is interested in a range of topics related to housing and urban governance. This includes housing as commons, public real-estate and affordability. He has conducted research in the Netherlands, Sweden and Brazil. Findings of his work have been published in journals such as Environment and Planning C, Housing, Theory and Society, Land Use Policy and Housing Studies.

Prior to joining Utrecht University, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Management in the Built Environment at TU Delft. He completed his PhD at the University of Amsterdam on the institutional dynamics of self-build housing.
