Frans is professor Sustainable Experience Design & Management Education for Sustainability bij Breda University of Applied Sciences.

Frans Melissen (1971) attained his MSc and PhD degrees (Industrial Engineering and Management Science) from Eindhoven University of Technology, where he also worked as a student counselor and lecturer/researcher. Subsequently, he joined the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Groningen as an associate professor. In 2006 he started his career at Breda University of Applied Sciences and he is the University’s Professor of Sustainable Experience Design. Together with Lars Moratis, he is also the University’s Professor of Management Education for Sustainability and Chair in Management Education for Sustainability at Antwerp Management School.

Through his Sustainable Experience Design professorship, it is Frans’ ambition to contribute to developing, successfully applying and disseminating theories, methods, tools and techniques that could assist organizations, businesses, professionals, and the like, in hospitality, tourism, events and beyond, in successfully designing (and staging) sustainable (hospitality) experiences.

Through his Professorship/Chair in Management Education for Sustainability (a cooperation between Breda University of Applied Sciences and Antwerp Management School), together with his co-professor/chair Lars Moratis, he aims to develop new knowledge and ideas about the state of, strategies for and visions about management education for sustainability and apply and share these insights within the educational and the business sector.

Through both Professorships, Frans aspires to serve as a force for change on the interface of sustainability, education, and business, and thus contribute to a sustainable transformation of wider society.
