Daniël is promovendus in zelfbouw en regelgeving van woningbouw aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.

I am a PhD candidate in Urban Planning at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR). I have studied Political Science (BSc) at the University of Amsterdam and the Freie Universität Berlin, and Urban Studies (MSc) at the University of Amsterdam and KTH Stockholm.

My research interests lie at the intersection of urban development, politics, land & housing policy and housing/home.

I currently investigate practices of self-build housing and facilities in the Netherlands and Brazil as part of the 'BESEFOGO' (Between self-regulation and formal government: the challenges of self-build housing and facilities) NWO-FAPESP research project.
